Vegestables and animals

I want to present here my opinion, as an omnivore, on the most common reason why vegetarians do not eat meat -- animals are living, breathing creatures that need to be cared for.

Plants and animals have just about the same uses for man.

For years, animals had been raised for different purposes. Most are cared for as pets while some help in the farm as, for lack of words coming into mind and time for searching in the Internet, beasts of burden. And several others are raised for food -- chickens for their eggs and themselves, cows for their milk and themselves. While a few others are raised to for sports -- horses and dogs for racing, dogs for dog fights, cocks for cock fighting, pigs for fiesta games (where you put oil on the pig and try to catch it inside a muddy arena).

Same can be said for plants, in this case the vegestables. They are raised for various uses - medicine, decorations, and of course as food.

The difference between an animal and a plant is their chance at surviving. Animals can fight back or run away to avoid being eaten or try to be cute so they will be spared. But plants cannot do that. They cannot fight back or run away. While some plants have thorns or poisonous excretions, this can be overcome by a plant eater particularly the inventive man.

If we go by the reason for not eating animals I present earlier, then I can say that it is more cruel to feed on plants for they too are living and breathing (not in the audible manner of course) and because they cannot defend themselves.

Immortals

I am watching an episode re-run of the Criminal Minds on Fox through CableLink (free advertisement) when I recognized one of the characters: Simon Lee.

In that episode with title "The Performer" he uses the name Owen Kim, a Los Angeles City detective investigating a series of deaths caused by a vampire-like UnSub (unknown subject).

A year later, after two episodes in Criminal Minds, he took the name of Simon Lee. He has since left the LAPD and is transferred to the National Security Agency working directly under President Elias Martinez.

Simon, formerly Owen, is among the many non-Earth beings who crash landed in Alaska sometime during World War II.

Evolution of Edward Cullen and Cedric Diggory

I just figured it out!

Edward Cullen was Cedric Diggory! When Cedric was killed in the Tri-Wizards Tournament, he did not really die. He did not die because he is a vampire studying at Hogwarts. :D

He later used the family name Cullen which is an infamous arms dealer whose ancestry sold weapons on both sides. :P

Stamping course for bankers

I think bank employees are given courses on proper stamping. I believe banking schools and bank training centers provide a practical course on stamping.

Bank tellers and employees more often than not stamp documents in front of them -- checks, bank forms, vouchers, bills. They place receipt stamps, date stamps, notice stamps, and form stamps on backs or fronts of documents they process.

The course teaches the proper tension an employee must have in his/her muscles to correctly press a stamper on a piece of paper. It emphasizes the angle of the forearm in relation to the stamper and the paper that will be stamped on, the amount of energy used to press the stamp and have an even impression on the paper and the amount of ink place on the ink pad to avoid blotting.

It also discusses the number of dabs on the ink pad to have enough ink on the stamper for pressing on various numbers of papers.

There are several ways of stamping multiple papers. There is the one soft dab, one stamp per paper technique and then there is the two hard dabs, one hard stamp each on three to four papers technique.

There might be more we do not know of and will discover soon.

This is why while in a bank making an over-the-counter deposit or withdrawal or cashing a check, the sounds you hear of stampers hitting wooden tables as tellers and employees go about their work are similar. The sounds, intensity of stamping, and the impact of stampers on paper are almost always the same everywhere you go.

Temperature control

When temperatures rise, our planet activates its own temperature control system.

Just watched the closing portion of a National Geographic show (I did not get the title). In that portion, the narrator explained that during one eruption that covered the whole world with sulfur dioxide clouds, global temperatures dropped 5 degrees.

It was narrated that the cloud cover from volcanic ash blocks the sun's rays reflecting heat away. This along with the fall out damages crops and other food sources but it does make the Earth cooler.

Thinking that since one of our problems is global warming caused by climate change, we may be moments away from when the Earth activates its automatic temperature control.

Given what the narrator said and with the high heat we now have globally, it will need a lot of cooling. To achieve this, Mother Earth will need to blow a lot of volcanoes.

This could be disastrous for us but it is a choice between the survival of the planet and most of the "defenseless" species and the survival of man.

The planet only does what is necessary to take care of itself and those living in it with those dying considered as collateral damages.

A means to an end. Sacrificing a few for the survival of the many.

We better change to help manage global warming before the planet itself takes action.

Give the benefit of the "daw"

The word "daw" is commonly used in the Philippines by tagalog speaking Pinoys.

"Daw," when added to verbs means "he/she claims or says" as a statement of fact by another person where the one narrating cannot be sure if true. Kumain daw means he said he ate. Pupunta daw means he said he will go there or he said he will come.

If used alone as a single word answer it means "that's what he/she/it/they claim or say." If asked, "Did he eat already?" the unsure response in one word will be "daw." This is sometimes said with a shrug showing uncertainty on the truth about what the third person said or claimed.

So, if you have friends who claim to have done something and you are not sure if it were true, give them the benefit of the "daw."

MJ and the kids

My wife is a fan of Michael Jackson. She constantly surfs the 'net for photos and mostly videos about Michael Jackson. I'd even get last song syndrome just listening to the music.

While joining her in watching an interview with MJ on YouTube as he takes underprivileged children for a tour around Neverland, I came to a conclusion that his fascination with kids must have been triggered by his lack of "childhood" memories in his pre-teen years.

MJ has a railway with a two-coach train inside Neverland. His game room does not house adult game equipment but children's toys. He named the place based on Peter Pan's Never-Never-Land. He adores children and plays with them.

I think Michael Jackson is trying to live a youngsters life now that he has the time, the power, and the money to do so. As a child, he was always on rehearsals -- no time for play. He is like most of us who, when we are more capable, relive our youth.
